Accounting Technician Course by ICAI:  A candidate may opt for Accounting Technician Course. Such a candidate has to undergo a study course of nine months, 35 hours Orientation Programme and 100 hours Information Technology Training before appearing in Accounting Technician Examination (ATE).

It is to be noted that Group I of IPCC is equivalent to ATC. After passing ATE, he will also be required to complete 12 months of work experience and on the production of a certificate to this effect, he will be issued Accounting Technician Certificate. A candidate who does not wish to complete erstwhile Intermediate/PE-II/PCC/IPCC can opt for ATC.

The candidates who are graduated or post graduated secured minimum 55% total marks under commerce stream of any recognized university can also register for ATC.

You should successfully complete 8 months of course from the date of ATC registration and also complete 35 hours one week of orientation course where such topics are cover like communication skills, personality development, office process work-related, general commercial information, business environment etc.

A candidate also completes ITT i.e. Information Technology Training of 100 hours and pass IPCC Group I Examination. The one year of working experience also required under any Chartered Accountant in the form of practice. Finally get the Accounting Technician Certificate and call yourself as Accounting Technician.

After Becoming Accounting Technician, How to become CA?

Somehow you became an Accounting Technician, but also want to become a CA. So for them, you have to enroll in Group II of IPC Course and do Articleship for 3 years as Articled Assistant. You have to pass Group II IPC exams and undergo GMCS II for 15 days after completing of 18 months article training but before practical training. Now you can appear for CA Final Exam during last six months of 3 years Articleship practical training. You must pass both groups of CA Final exams and have three years of complete experience of practical training. After enrolling as a member of ICAI & designate yourself as a CA i.e. "Chartered Accountant."
